Call for Submissions: Moving beyond the Margins

Mar 31, 2016 | - Mar 31, 2016 |

Location is wheelchair accessible

The UCB Center for Race and Gender Moving Beyond the Margins Working Group (MBM) would like to cordially invite you to submit a story, poem, love letter or photography piece to be published in our forthcoming April chapbook.
MBM is a student-led graduate working group and collective of women of color formed to interrogate hegemonic narratives, (de)center patriarchal constructions of history and, most importantly, celebrate the fullness of womanhood. Our primary goal is to document the ways in which women of color, particularly Black women, have resisted oppression, reclaimed their own (her)stories and re-imagined possibilities for the future.

We encourage all womyn identified folk from communities of color to consider submitting pieces that address our 2016 theme, destigmatizing mental health and practicing radical self love, by the March 31st deadline. Nonacademic pieces are welcome. Complete details can be found here in the application LINK.

For more information about the working group or the submission process, please contact Derrika Hunt at dreamer4change@berkeley.edu. We hope you will submit and encourage others to do the same!
