Since 2020, CRG’s Arts & Humanities Initiative has curated and hosted the Radical Kinship Series. Radical Kinship Series brings together scholars and artists working in various media (visual arts, literature) into conversations to discuss how their art imagines decolonial futures in multiple contexts, including safety and anti-Asian violence, Black trans futures, African identity in Mexico, and abolition from indigenous, queer Black migrant, and trans perspectives.
The CRG also hosts and co-hosts special events, lectures, and symposia related to race and gender. Past events have included: Hierarchies of Color, Racializing Sexual Economies: Sex Trade, Trafficking, And The Political Agency Of People Of Color & Indigenous People Symposia, Undocunation: An Evening with Artists for Immigrant Justice, Sana Sana: Live Reading & Interview on Poetic Practice and Healing with Ariana Brown, Epidemic of Anti-Asian Violence: Connections and Resistance -- Helen Zia in conversation with Leti Volpp, and more.
Additionally, over the years the CRG has co-sponsored numerous conferences, performances, and events spearheaded by other departments and institutions both on- and off-campus. We provide financial or administrative support for a limited number of activities each year. Please click on the "Event Co-sponsorship Request" block below for more information.
