
CRG's Conference Room may be requested for use by UC Berkeley groups for meetings, lectures, and workshops.
Overview
The CRG Conference Room (691 Social Sciences Building (SSB)) is available for reservations during normal office hours. The room can be used for meetings, lectures, or workshops. It may be reserved by UC Berkeley faculty, staff, graduate students, and undergraduate students.
All room requests are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. We will do everything possible to accommodate all requests but please note that it may not be possible. Final decisions for room requests remain at the discretion of CRG staff.

Meetings
For meetings, the room can be configured in multiple ways, including using all six tables to create one long conference table (space for 8 people) or in a U-shape (space for 12).
Lecture/Workshops
Configured for a lecture, panel talk, or workshop, the room has space for 25 seated people, with standing room for up to 30.
Hours
Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM.
The CRG Conference Room is not a complete conference facility and is unable to accommodate large-scale full-day, multi-day, evening, or weekend events.
Equipment
Audiovisual equipment includes a TV monitor with HDMI*. The conference room also has a glass whiteboard. There is also a kitchenette with a microwave, a mini refrigerator, and a hot/cold water dispenser.
*Must provide your own HDMI Adapter to connect to the presenter's laptop.
Fees*
$200 - Up to 4 Hours:
$400 - All-day use (9:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
$100 - Serving food and/or drinks at event
Fees may be paid via chartstring or check.
*CRG Student Grantees, Current Research Working Groups, and CRG Affiliated Faculty may request to use the CRG Conference Room free of charge.
Room Use & Reservation Policies
As a courtesy to other users, please practice these policies and guidelines when using CRG's Conference Room (691 SSB):
- Please ensure that both doors to CRG's Conference Room (691 SSB) are securely closed upon departure. Please do not leave doors propped open.
- Chairs, furnishings and equipment are not to be removed from the rooms.
- Do not rearrange furniture unless it is placed back in its official configuration immediately upon completion of your meeting.
- Permission must be requested to serve food and drink (fees may apply). Access to the CRG Conference Room kitchenette (microwave, mini refrigerator, and a hot/cold water dispenser, space for food storage and preparation) may be included as well.
- Groups and individuals using the space are directly responsible for immediately cleaning food and beverage spills/accidents. Do not leave spills/accidents unattended.
- In consideration of others, and the prevention of cockroaches and mice, immediately dispose of all trash, recyclables, and compost material in room bins and/or hallway bins.
- Please be mindful of noise level; please be considerate of others.
- Alcoholic beverages may not be served without prior authorization and approval by CRG. A campus permit & faculty sponsor at the time of the alcohol- serving events is a campus requirement [UCPD alcohol permit request form].
- Groups and individuals are responsible for ANY damage to University/CRG Department property.
- All campus rules and regulations are in effect using the space.
- After your meeting, please be sure the room is cleared of trash, tabletops are wiped clean, the whiteboard is erased, furniture is reset to its proper configuration, and the lights are off.
- CRG Conference Room reservations are for the specified room, time, and dates only. Additional usage outside the room/days/times specified in the reservation requires a new request.
- CRG Conference Room is available for reservation between 9 AM and 5:30 PM Monday through Friday, except weekends and holidays.
- CRG Conference Room reservations requests (including facilities and A/V) must be submitted two weeks in advance of the event. Requests with less than two weeks notice may not be accommodated.
- Notify centerrg@berkeley.edu as soon as possible if you need to cancel your reservation so others can use the room.
